Five titles have been released containing 101 tips each. The tips cover Casino gaming in general, Slots, Video poker, How to get comps from Casinos and Roulette made easier.

Here is a selection of 24 tips from 101 Video Poker Tips:

On Your Way To Royalty.

  • Change your paper money into coins and carry it with you in a bucket so you can see what’s left of your bankroll.
  • Decide on how much to bet on each maximum hand and then multiply the denomination by 5.
  • Play nickels to stretch your gambling bucks.
  • Ask the cashiers where theyplay video poker to find full-pay VP's.
  • Learn how to read pay schedules and understand the difference between full-pay and short-pay.
  • Learn the optimum strategy for each VP machine.

Jacks Or Better(Jacks+)

Best full-pay: 9 coins for a full-house, 6 coins for a flush as designated under one coin line.

  • Pay-out with optimum play: 99.5%
  • 8/5 Jacks + pay 8 coins for full-house and 5 coins for a flush: 5% less payout than 9/6's.
  • Casinos hold 2% more money on VP's, because players do not play maximum coins.
  • The Ace is not the most important card. The KQJ are because it’s easier to make a Straight or Royal Flush.
  • Don't keep a kicker with a high pair.
  • Jacks + is recommended for novice players or those with limited bankrolls, especially nickel VP's.

Bonuses and Progressive Vp's

  • Play 10/7 Bonus VP full-pay, 2 pair pays 2, best version.
  • Don't play progressives unless jackpot is high and ready to hit.
  • Look for ‘4 of a kind’ high secondary jackpots too.
  • Progressives require larger bankrolls.

Deuces Wild

  • Play 9/5 Deuces Wild VP full-pay: 9 coins for Straight Flush and 5 coins for 4 of a kind.
  • Almost 20% of the time you will toss all five cards.

Jokers Wild

  • Play 7/5: 7 coins for a full-house and 5 coins for a flush, Kings + = full pay Jokers Wild.
  • Go for a Straight Flush when possible for the higher return with a wild card.

General Vp Tips

  • Worst VP payouts: Deuces/Jokers Wild versions, high jackpot - too expensive.
  • If you don't play maximum coins on a VP quarter version, the return for hitting a Royal Flush is 250 coins = $67.50, but play nickels at max = 25¢ per hand and a Royal Flush pays 4,000 coins = $200. Better wager management play.
  • If you play internet video poker, make sure they are full-pay schedules or pass.

Deuces Wild and Joker’s Wild

If you want to become a master video poker player, there are a few basic things you must know.

  • How to read the payout schedule, so you know the difference between short, partial pay and full pay versions.
  • The relevant strategies for all kinds of video poker games.

Pay Schedules

Typically, a 9/6 video poker game will hit the royal flush once in every 40,000 hands played, which is equivalent to approximately 80 to 100 hours of game time. Other games, e.g. the 8/5 will hit the royal flush every 45,000 hands, the 7/5's will hit each 50,000 hands, and the 6/5’s will hit approximately every 70,000 hands played.

Always bet the maximum number of coins allowed. For example, if you bet 5 coins, winning hands are paid out after being multiplied by a factor of 5, except for the royal flush.

Deuces Wild Strategies

Full-pay Deuces Wild Versions will be 9/5's - 9 coins for a straight flush and 5 coins for ‘4 of a kind’.

Do not hesitate to throw away your five cards. You want to make room for additional cards that could be deuces and holding an Ace or King is not going to help you if the next hand coming up could be four or five sevens. Here’s why…

Most Jacks or Better players will throw in complete hands - 5 cards, only 3% of the time, while Deuces Wild players almost 20% of the time, which is approximately every fifth hand.

Do not keep two pairs. Select one or the other, as 3-of-a-kind is the minimum scheduled payout.

Only hold Inside Straights if they present the best possible return from your initial five cards dealt. Therefore, a 5, 6, 8, 9 hand can produce a 7 or wild card in this video poker version.

It is the number of deuces or absence of deuces that are dealt in your initial hand that dictates the strategies for this game. Four deuces will come up approximately once in every 5,000 hands. This is a secondary jackpot that will keep you in the game or allow you to pocket part of your winnings.

It is the excitement of all or nothing in Deuces that makes it an awesome game to play. You can go for hours without seeing one Deuce, and suddenly hit a Royal flush with Deuces. ‘Four of a kind’ is easy to get.

Joker’s Wild Strategies

A full-pay Joker’s Wild pay schedule will be 7/5 machines, 7 coins for a full house and 5 coins for a flush. There are two versions of this game: one returns money on a pair of Kings or better and the other requires at least two pairs before there is a payout. This first game is the more desirable full-pay version.

These strategies for Jokers, unlike Jacks, reflect the wild card, a 53 card deck, and the different payouts. If you do not hold the Joker, keep three cards to a royal over a pair of Aces or Kings because of the higher payout. Remember you could catch another Ace or King and still be paid.

If three cards are consecutive cards for a straight flush, for example, the 5, 6, and 7 of hearts, discard other cards for the higher payback. If they are not consecutive, keep the small pair.

Don't be afraid to hold the Joker alone. More than 3% of the time, you won't be able to connect with a straight, flush, straight flush, or a high pair. However, holding the Joker only can give you four new cards and a win.
